// What Is Cackle Freaks? //

An Improv Comedy Show for Horror Fans

Think ASSSSCAT at the Upright Citizens Brigade, but with a twisted genre spin. Cackle Freaks is a live improv comedy show where our cast of improvisors riffs off clips from horror movies to fuel the comedy scenes.

Each show opens with The Cackle Freak (Thayer Juergens) interviewing a special guest from the horror world – our Scream Royalty of the night. Past guests include Barbara Crampton, David Dastmalchian, Doug Jones, David Howard Thornton, Michael Rosenbaum, and more.

It's always a packed house of horror and comedy fans, and the vibe is pure celebration of the genre – with horror trivia and prizes at the end, donated by our sponsors at Discount Cemetery.

Interview with Scream Royalty

The Cackle Freak sits down with a horror icon to open the show. The conversation fuels the improvisors with material they'll pull from all night.

Improv Inspired by Horror Clips

The cast takes scenes directly from horror films as their launching pad – and what follows is chaotically hilarious comedy.

Guest Comics from Film and TV

Every show features guest comedians with credits from Curb Your Enthusiasm, Parks and Rec, Fallout, Drunk History, and more alongside the core cast.

Horror Trivia and Prizes

We close every show with horror trivia on stage. Winners walk away with horror-themed prizes donated by our sponsors at Discount Cemetery.

Meet the Freak!

The Cackle Freak

Your Host

The Cackle Freak

The Cackle Freak is the star of the 1995 Stuart Gordon masterpiece CASTLE FREAK and has since then...never worked. They found him in the basement of Charles Band's castle and based the movie partially on his life story. The Freak thought it'd be his ticket to stardom and he's auditioned to be everything from a deadite to a zombie, yet sadly he hasn't caught a break. After all he's got a face for radio. His BARBARIAN audition came close though...

Now he hosts his own horror comedy show where he can bring in his colleagues and "peers" from the horror world. Some he's worked with like Barbara Crampton and some took that BARBARIAN part from him like Matthew Patrick Davis.
